Computers are just like cars – we assume they will operate without failure—yet they all will falter eventually. It is important that businesses plan for computer malfunctions. That's why we deliver proactive IT services for Northeast Wisconsin business. One should implement backup, recovery, and redundancy procedures to minimize the failure's impact, and document recovery task details in preparation.
Disaster prevention & recovery is similar to insurance – spend a little now to avoid a crippling expense later. Also, place a price tag on the disaster to help evaluate the insurance's value.
ITConnexx offers a variety of automatic backup options including:
- Reliable File/Data Backup
A File/Data Backup is a simple copy of some/all of the data/document files on the computer. The File/Data Backup can be used to restore individual files or all files from specific folders. If a computer needs to be reloaded from scratch, this data backup is a critical piece of the restoration process but will be the last step in the rebuild of the computer. We will still need to load all of the software programs from scratch including licensing details which are often very labor intensive and may not be possible.
- Image Backup
An Image Backup is more comprehensive than a File Backup, but also requires more software, setup, and management. The Image Backup will produce an exact duplicate copy of all data/documents and programs that are currently running on the computer. If a computer needs to be reloaded from scratch, no initial preparation would be required. We would simply restore the Image Backup and reboot.
A growing number of businesses are now looking at the speed of recovery as a critical part of their backup strategy. This option is critical for those computers that you cannot afford a long rebuild process and/or those that would be difficult to reassemble from the original software.
- Offsite Backup
Historically, backups have been configured and performed onsite. By using an available high-speed Internet connection, any business can now reliably use an Offsite backup service.
The Offsite options though reliable should be a fail-safe option behind an active onsite backup. However, in some cases an Offsite backup may be the only practical option.
Some of the benefits of an Offsite Backup:
- No need to take home a backup tape
- Automatically create month-end and year-end backup
- Backup to the onsite backup
- Protects against data loss caused by a disaster
- Staff that use laptops and are often not in the office
